Support Implemented for Latest Firefox & Internet Explorer Browser Releases
The DevExpress ASP.NET team have been working hard to keep your controls up-to-date with the latest releases from Microsoft Internet Explorer and Firefox.
The team, and many of our early-adopting customers, have been working with beta builds of the new browsers, and DevExpress has been on top of making sure that feedback about these latest releases was swiftly addressed.
We¡¯re pleased to confirm that the latest DXperience release, v10.2.6, has been tested and verified to work with deployments that may be used in Firefox 4 and IE9.
WinForms Data Grid Loaded with Exciting New Enhancements
XtraGrid is one of the longest serving DevExpress controls and, despite its maturity and flexibility, there are always areas in which improvements can be made.
Great news for XtraGrid users, the team are already building in new functionality for the 2011.1 release, and these exciting new enhancements are sure to please!
Don¡¯t tell anyone, but Julian has already been a few sneak peeks at the new features and functionality.
Take a look and remember to leave us your feedback in the comments.
Brand New ASP.NET MVC Charting Suite
Coming with the next major DXperience release, ASP.NET MVC developers will have access to almost 50 different chart types.
If you are embedding charts into your current ASP.NET MVC application, you will know that there are some obstacles. With the brand new charting extension, DevExpress is delivering yet another solid native ASP.NET MVC solution, one that offers you all the flexibility and customization you would expect from a professional charting suite, making sure that standard MVC practices are followed.
Check out the full list of charting options that you will have access to with the next XtraCharts release, coming in DXperience v2011 vol 1.
Framework Frenzy – Custom Functions & New SQL Operator Support
Custom functions are great, but previously you had to register them everywhere you wanted to use them - what a pain!
Thanks to the XAF team those days are long gone. You can now register once and use everywhere. Registering a function globally means you can use it everywhere you'd use a Criteria Operator. Not only that, you can even use custom functions with LINQ to XPO!
Speaking of XPO, the team have also been tweaking the SQL that XPO generates for SQL Server, by introducing support for the OUTER APPLY operator.
Since SQL Server can¡¯t perform nested aggregates, nor aggregates on the columns specified in the group by list, this is great news.
We'd welcome your feedback on the team¡¯s improvements. Let us know your thoughts in the blog comments.
