WELCOME TO INTERSOFT SOLUTIONS NEWSLETTER MAY 2010 EDITION

EDITORIAL – CLIENTUI BETA, NEW WEBESSENTIALS BLOGS, AND MORE.
Jemmy Haryono, Vice President of Marketing

Thank you for your support by participating in ClientUI's private beta. Ever since the announcement goes through the blog, we have been queried with plenty of emails daily asking specifically about the beta bits. If you are interested, please email us and leave your name to beta@intersoftpt.com. Our team will contact you shortly.
Despite the slight delay due to the large number of products that we're going to ship, I believe the upcoming WebUI Studio 2010 truly worth the wait. With over-delivery of dozens new controls, new Silverlight 4 and WPF 4 controls – not to mention full support for Visual Studio 2010 in all existing ASP.NET lineups plus the new Silverlight and WPF lineups, this single release is literally identical to two releases we normally did in the past.
In the mean time, I highly recommend you to check out Jimmy's ClientUI blog series. The recently posted blog highlights on the UX factor and why it is so crucial to your Web applications. Click here to see the quick recap of all ClientUI blogs.
For the ASP.NET lineups, I have written two new blogs, the first discusses some most common business scenarios that WebEssentials can help you achieve, while the other introduces you to WebListBox and its innovative features.
Scheduled to be released by the end of June, WebUI Studio will include 218 new components in total across ASP.NET, Silverlight 3, Silverlight 4 and WPF 4 development platform. If you already owned a Premier subscription, make sure you received all these incredible 218 components by renewing your subscriptions before they expired.
Last, but not least, thank you for your continuous support and your valuable feedback. If you have any comments on this month's newsletter, announcement, or anything else, please feel free to write me at haryono@intersoftpt.com.

LEARN MORE ON CLIENTUI FOR SILVERLIGHT/WPF.

Silverlight development is remarkably challenging when it comes to building an enterprise-class Rich Internet Application, or as Jimmy's referred in his post, "Silverlight is lacking of application fundamental and architecture support". The currently available free and commercial third-party controls don't help much; in fact you need to spend more time to learn it first.
Designed to cover both Silverlight and WPF platforms, ClientUI is introduced as a solution to help you build a better RIA without the steep learning curve. Jimmy has written 4 series of blog covering the fundamental things about ClientUI and how it can help you demystify all challenges.
More ClientUI update and blog posts are coming. Be the first to read it by subscribing to our blog roll.

WEBESSENTIALS HIGHLIGHT – A LISTBOX WITH HYBRID FUNCTIONALITIES.

Among the other WebEssentials member, WebListBox is probably the most unique due to its dual functionalities, as a data entry control and as a navigation control.
WebListBox
Regardless of its duality, WebListBox packs in a huge array of features that will surely satisfy your need, such as: data binding capability to any data source control, flexible global or individual item customization, HTML and XHTML ready, various visually appealing styles, and many more.
Read more about WebListBox and uncover its true potential. Learn why WebListBox is the perfect replacement for any listbox controls.

UPDATE WEBGRID'S FOOTER TEXT ON AFTER CLIENT-SIDE DATA CHANGED.

This thread started by Shawn August inquires about how to update WebGrid's footer text when a data is changed dynamically from client-side script.
By leveraging WebGrid's client-side event and API, our technical supports helped Shawn with his unique scenario. He also posted the final code snippet that he used. Click here to read more.

PROGRAMATICALLY SET WEBCOVERFLOW START INDEX.

There are certain conditions which require you to display different cover flow item on the initial load or, technically speaking, defining WebCoverFlow's start index.
You need to set the start mode to custom and define the item index in CustomStartIndex property. Visit this thread for more information or if you have any questions.

CLIENT-SIDE DATA VALIDATION IN WEBGRID AFTER ADD OR EDIT.

Douglas Badin started this thread asking about client-side data validation after add or edit a row. As our support team assisted Douglas, the thread is followed with several more questions within the same topic. Learn more or ask questions in this thread now.

TIPS AND TRICKS – SET WEBGRID'S DIMENSION TO 100%.

Have you ever encountered a situation which requires you to have a WebGrid instance that fills your entire window regardless of the users' screen resolution? Normally, we set the Height and Width properties to 100%, but when viewed in browser, the height shrinks.
The solution is not to use 100%, but use AutoHeight and AutoWidth properties. Once set to true, it will automatically fill the entire screen.
How about setting the dimension to 70% or less? You will need to place WebGrid inside a fixed sized container, such as:
for example, and set the desired percentage on the Height and Width property.
And here is the result:
