Product Tip: Setting Up a New Workspace Tab in Toolset v10

Introduced in Version 10 of Engineer's Toolset, Workspace Studio delivers a new, innovative way to troubleshoot network issues by providing an environment where you can deploy, group, and connect the network management tools you need.

Setting up workspaces for different troubleshooting scenarios puts the tools you need at your fingertips - plus, creating workspaces is quick and easy! Use the instructions below to set up your first workspace, or watch the 2-minute video.

  1. Download your free trial of Engineer's Toolset.
  2. Open the Workspace Studio from the Engineer's Toolset folder.
  3. Create a new custom tab by choosing Tabs from the menu and selecting New Tab.
  4. Peruse the list of gadgets on the lower left sidebar; available gadgets include discovery tools, interface monitors, CLI tools, and response time monitors.
  5. When you've made your selection, simply drag the name of the gadget you want onto your tab and voila - it appears. For this example, let's use a Response Time Chart.
  6. Click Devices in the explorer pane, expand Monitored Devices, and then drag the name of the device you want to monitor onto the Response Time Chart.
  7. If you want to add more devices, simply drag the additional devices onto the chart.
  8. Try dragging other types of gadgets, such as a CPU Gauge or an Interface Chart, onto your tab.
  9. Continue dragging and dropping devices onto your gauges and charts.
  10. Start monitoring your devices in real time through one pane of glass!
