Application Monitoring from the Head Geek |
|
Top 5 Tips
1. The real key to application monitoring is to be able to see the application¡¯s entire ecosystem at once, so look for a solution that offers this capability.
2. Use "user experience monitors" or ¡°synthetic transactions" to enhance your ability to detect application issues.
3. Leverage WMI when monitoring Windows¢ç-based applications – you¡¯ll be able to access data from event logs on service status and performance, from performance counters and much more.
4. Use a template-based system if you¡¯re going to monitor the same applications on multiple servers. This will save you loads of time by allowing you to implement monitoring and make changes across a large numbers of servers at one time.
5. For Unix application monitoring, opt for SSHv2 over SSHv1 for better security. |
