The Telerik Portfolio is Growing

The Telerik Portfolio is Growing

The mystery has been revealed! As of Q1 2009, the Telerik portfolio will expand with a brand new product - WebUI Test Studio. We hope the addition of yet another powerful tool to the Telerik collection will facilitate your decision-making process when in need of a reliable one-stop-shop for all your .NET development needs.

Created in partnership with ArtOfTest, Telerik WebUI Test Studio is a modern tool for creating automated web UI tests that promises to bring an end to the era of tedious and complex web testing. The tool is designed specifically for modern web applications, which may use AJAX or even Silverlight (coming soon). There are plenty of tools and features specifically designed for web testing - browser abstraction, convenient DOM inspector, reuse of HTML elements, etc. Productivity and test maintenance are taken to another level as you can now record a test once and run it against all supported browsers (IE and Firefox, with Google Chrome and Safari for Windows coming soon).

Telerik WebUI - Test Studio uses a true point-and-click interface. Painful recording script files and consoles are replaced by the Automation Overlay Surface¢â, visual storyboards, etc. Whether you are a QA with moderate technical skills or a developer doing functional and unit testing, the new product will allow you to work productively and collaborate both in the Team System and Professional editions of Visual Studio.

And best of all - WebUI Test Studio comes with built-in translators for all of Telerik's ASP.NET AJAX controls. When recording a test, WebUI Test Studio will automatically recognize RadControls on a page and provide intelligent options to quickly validate the state of each control and its child elements. The translators abstract the internal specifics of the Telerik controls, so even if there is a change in their rendering, your tests will continue to run properly.

WebUI Test Studio finally makes web testing simple, accurate and affordable with the per machine license priced at $2499! Don't waste a minute and check out the wealth of resources and videos. The WebUI Test Studio is currently a public beta and it will be officially released with Q1, so we're eager to hear your feedback before the official release!

Sitefinity CMS v3.6 Just Released

Sitefinity CMS v3.6 Just Released

On February 6, Telerik officially released the eagerly awaited Sitefinity 3.6. Here are some of the really cool new enhancements included in Sitefinity 3.6:

  • All templates are now embedded as resources in assemblies, which means that your templates will no longer be overridden with our new releases. There is a simple configuration file which allows you to map certain controls to use external templates.
  • Completely reworked backend architecture – Creating new modules with Sitefinity has been tremendously simplified. We also made sure that Sitefinity is now 100% backwards compatible with modules you have already built.
  • Dynamic page links – you can now safely reorder pages in your project's sitemap without running the risk of breaking any URLs.
  • Support for .NET 3.5 framework ( .NET 2.0 will still be supported as well and it will be provided as a separate distribution)
  • Hierarchical content categories are now supported to allow for better structuring of the website information.
  • RadControls for AJAX has been replaced with the newest version – Q3 2008 SP1
  • Images and Documents module now supports video libraries through RadMediaPlayer for Silverlight
  • Data provider for Video Libraries using Amazon S3 for data storage and streaming

Painless Automated WebUI Testing
Without automated web UI tests, teams with tight schedules are forced to hope their sites work after a release. So why doesn't everybody use automated web UI tests and avoid these risky releases? Simply put, they are too hard to create, too hard to maintain, and they deliver too little return on time invested. Meet a tool that's very cost-effective and extremely easy-to-use.
