Sure, MathType works great with Microsoft Word, but how much of its capability are you really using?

MathType - Equation Editor product shotYou know that MathType works incredibly well with Microsoft Word, but you may not be aware of all the things you can do with MathType in Word:

  • Insert Equation button on the Word toolbar: No need to use that clunky Insert Object dialog.
  • Change the font and style of all equations in a document: Use the MathType menu in Word to easily change the font and style of your equations.
  • Create math-enabled web pages: Easily convert Word documents into good-looking math web pages that are also accessible to the blind and people with other disabilities.
  • Edit equations in a separate window: Whenever you edit an equation, MathType opens it in a new editing window at 200% zoom scale (or more if you prefer) so that you can see tiny subscripts and accents easily.
  • Create and edit equations using only the keyboard: MathType adds keyboard shortcuts to Word that allow you to insert a new equation or edit an existing one, using just a keystroke.
  • Type equations in TeX directly into Word: You can type TeX or LaTeX directly into Word. Type Alt+\ (Toggle TeX) to convert it to a MathType equation. Later, if you want to edit the equation's TeX code, just type Alt+\ again. The Toggle TeX command allows you to switch between TeX and MathType views of the equation without ever leaving Word.
  • Insert and format equation numbers: Add equation numbers either to the left or right of an equation. Add references to them in the text. Later, if you change the order of paragraphs in your document, the Update Equation Numbers command puts the equation numbers back in sequence.
  • Visit all equations in a document: Use MathType's equation browser to review all equations in your document or check all equation numbers and references for consistency. Move through your document one equation or number at a time.
  • Export equations: Automatically export all equations in a document as image files in these formats: EPS, GIF, WMF (Windows only) or PICT (Mac only).
  • Convert equations: Convert all equations in a document to TeX, LaTeX or MathML in preparation for a custom export process.

Not Just for Microsoft Word: Up until now, MathType has been thought of mostly as a tool that works with Microsoft Word and PowerPoint. But it has always been much more than that. You can label graphs with equations, export equations to TeX or MathML, create equation images for websites, blogs, and wikis, and much more.
