Product Tip: Integrate Kiwi Syslog Server With Your Orion NPM Console

Kiwi Syslog Server forwards syslog data while still retaining each message's original source IP address. Using this capability, you can easily configure Kiwi Syslog Server to forward critical messages to your Orion Syslog Server, making syslog data immediately viewable in your Orion Network Performance Monitor web console.

This is a handy trick for folks who want to maintain their existing Kiwi Syslog Server configuration, rules, and alerts, but require multi-user access. It's also useful for those of you who simply want to quickly view and search syslog data from the web or correlate syslog information with traps, NetFlow data, or application performance data that Orion NPM is already collecting.

Here's how to integrate Kiwi Syslog Server and Orion NPM:

1.     Select File > Setup from your Kiwi Syslog Server toolbar to open the settings window.

2.     Right-click on Rules in the settings tree and select Add Rule.

3.     Under your new rule, right-click on Actions in the settings tree and select Add Action.

4.     Select Forward to Another Host from the Action drop-down menu.

5.     Specify your Orion server IP address for Destination IP Address or Host Name and select the checkbox next to Retain the original source address of the message.

The kiwi lives in burrows in the ground and is largely nocturnal.

Kiwis have no tail and stubby, two-inch wings that end in cat-like claws.

Kiwis look great in orange.
