In This Edition:
2007 was quite a year for SolarWinds, thanks to all of you. We're pretty
excited about what's on the horizon for 2008, but we wanted to take a few moments to reflect on our highlights from
the last year... so here goes:
- As of 2007, more than 1 million network engineers use
SolarWinds products to manage networks around the world. As part of our continued commitment to our community,
we also released 3 new free tools to make managing those networks a little easier. If you missed out, download them now.
- We unveiled a new community site, Thwack, along with a blog from our Head Geek. Amazingly,
more than 13,000 of you are now registered Thwack members and you contributed 14,900 posts to the forums in 2007
alone!
- ipMonitor and Neon Software joined the SolarWinds
team, bringing new products (ipMonitor and LANsurveyor
) into the fold to fill critical needs we heard from you.
- Orion chalked up honors with SearchNetworking.com's
2007 Product Leadership Award and Redmond Magazine's 2007 Readers' Choice Award.
- VoIP monitoring was tossed into Orion's bag of tricks,
with the introduction of VoIP Monitor v1, which proactively analyzes VoIP quality
across WAN links and monitors underlying systems and protocols to ensure great performance.
- Engineer's Toolset v9 added more tools to the collection,
including NetFlow Real-time and the Toolset Launchpad, bringing the grand total to 49 tools and counting!
- Cirrus Configuration Manager v4 introduced enterprise-
level capabilities - plus new security and compliance features - and exceeded the 1000 customer mark.
- LANsurveyor v10 debuted, bringing top honors from IT
Week for its new and improved network mapping functionality.
- SolarWinds was named to Inc. 5000's list of fastest-growing private companies in the
U.S and was recognized in Software Magazine's 25th annual Software 500.
- A new European headquarters in Cork, Ireland officially
established our operations in EMEA.
So what's next? We're starting 2008 off with a bang with the launch of ipMonitor v9
next week (look to your right for a sneak preview). Plus, you'll also see some exciting additions to the Orion
platform over the next few weeks and months. Maybe we'll even have a few new free tools to share and some
exciting enhancements to Thwack... who knows, but we hope you stay tuned and
join us for the ride - we resolve to make it a fast, fun, and fearless year full of surprises!

Thanks for spreading the word about SolarWinds!
You've spoken and we are listening to your every comment. Here are a few more of our favorites:
"SolarWinds was a godsend to my organization - as we grow, SolarWinds
is going to be able to grow with us. I evaluated several network management apps, including HP OpenView. SolarWinds
is hands-down the best network management program I've ever used."

"What would my network life be like without SolarWinds? I have the fortune
(misfortune) to manage a static IP environment (don't ask), and with the Engineer's Toolset, I have a breadth of utilities to monitor and be proactive on the
network. Of particular use are the IP Management tool, Performance Monitor, IP Browser, and Bandwidth Gauges, to
name a few. These are outstanding tools at a great price point. Gr8 Going Team. Best of Luck."
