FarPoint Spread for Web Forms
Did you know that
you can use FarPoint Spread for Web Forms as a SharePoint web part?
For those customers who are
using Microsoft SharePoint, you might be interested to know that FarPoint
Spread for Web Forms can be used as a Web Part in your SharePoint solution.
Basically, FarPoint Spread for Web Forms can be put in a Web Part created
in Visual Studio 2005 and then you can use that Web Part in the SharePoint
solution. Here are the three basic steps to make FarPoint Spread for Web
Forms work in a SharePoint Web Part.
1. Set the
trust:
In the SharePoint web.config file, set the TrustLevel to Full.
2. Mark
DLLs as safe:
In the SharePoint web.config file, mark the FarPoint product DLLs as safe.
This includes FarPoint.CalcEngine.dll, FarPoint.Excel.dll and
FarPoint.Web.Spread.dll.
3. Less is
more:
This assumes you are using the latest version of SharePoint (WSS or MOSS).
For earlier versions of SharePoint you also had the additional step of
excluding the fp_client folder from the SharePoint server.
This is no longer necessary. From the SharePoint server, exclude the
fp_client folder of FarPoint Spread for Web Forms.
FarPoint Spread can be used inside the Web Part you are developing.
In earlier versions of the product, the FpSpread.RenderWebPart method was
used for the .NET Framework 1.x when you created a Web Part based on
Microsoft.SharePoint.WebPartPages.WebPart class.
In .NET Framework 2.x, the Web Part becomes part of the framework. If you
use the framework WebPart class,
System.Web.UI.WebControls.WebParts.WebPart, the FpSpread.RenderWebPart
method is no longer needed.
For more information on Web Parts in SharePoint, you may want to read

Technologies" Parts I and II:
