The (a)wait is Over: Async is Here

The lastest Xamarin update brings C# 5.0 with async to all of our supported platforms. We’ve even asyncified native iOS and Android APIs so that you can take advantage of async in the platform-specific areas of your apps—something no other programming language can do, which further solidifies C# as the best language for mobile development.

Check out the recording, slides and code samples from last week’s Async webinar.

Salesforce and Xamarin have made it even easier to put Salesforce CRM data on any device. We’ve launched a new Salesforce component in the Xamarin Component Store, which provides a fully-managed, cross-platform library to authenticate users and manipulate customer data.

Google Play Services component for Xamarin.Android

We recently released Google Play Services components for developers who are using Xamarin.Android 4.8. Google Play Services is an add-on library that allows Android developers to take advantage of the most recent features from Google such as Google Maps Android API v2, Google Play In-app Billing v3, and Google Cloud Messaging.. You can find the components in the Xamarin Component Store.

SSO Made Easy

We’re pleased to announce the first enterprise identity management component in the Xamarin Component Store from Symplified, a market-leading Identity-as-a-Service leading provider. With this new component, you can quickly and easily build, test and deploy authentication and single sign-on (SSO) capabilities in your apps and securely connect them to existing identity infrastructure such as Active Directory and LDAP. To learn more, join us for the “Authenticating Users Into Mobile Apps” webinar on August 27 at 8am Pacific.

Gartner Recognizes Xamarin as Mobile Visionary

We are honored to be recognized for the first time by Gartner in their newly published Gartner Magic Quadrant report for Mobile Application Development Platforms for 2013. Out of a field of hundreds of vendors, Xamarin was one of only twenty-two selected for the report, and one of only nine identified by Gartner as Visionaries in mobile application development—a nearly unprecedented accomplishment for a 2-year-old company, and as a first-time vendor in the report. Visit our enterprise mobility page to learn more.
