"deliver more than expected" - the monthly newsletter of telerik, the leading vendor of UI components for
ASP.NET
Just Released: telerik r.a.d.controls for ASP.NET Q2 2006
What's new:
telerik (http://www.telerik.com) is pleased to announce the availability of telerik r.a.d.controls for ASP.NET volume Q2 2006. The main accents
of this release are development productivity and major performance optimization. You will find the new r.a.d.ajax framework, which allows you to codelessly
AJAX-enable any ASP.NET application regardless of its complexity. Also new is the highly efficient rendering of the telerik navigation controls, which reduces the
HTML output by up to 70%. Developers will be pleasantly surprised by the one-property skinning mechanism as well as by the support for embedded web resources,
which makes deployment a matter of drag-and-drop.
The major highlight of
the new volume is the release of the telerik AJAX framework, called r.a.d.ajax, which was first unveiled during the Real World AJAX Seminar in New York, March 13, 2006. As of Q2 2006 r.a.d.ajax will
supersede r.a.d.callback although the latter will be supported for another year. The key advantage of r.a.d.ajax in comparison with other AJAX
frameworks is the fact that you don뭪 have to make any modifications to existing applications, i.e. enclose content in Callback Panels, set triggers, manually invoke AJAX
request, etc.
Featuring telerik's patent-pending Click-and-Go technology, r.a.d.ajax allows for a completely codeless development. (Read more / Watch a video). At the same time, the framework is suitable even for very complex
applications (like the telerik HelpDesk sample),
replacing the postback behavior of selected controls with AJAX.

The complexity
of modern web interfaces makes performance optimizations a paramount goal. In response to this need comes the new semantic rendering technology of the
telerik navigation controls. r.a.d.menu v4.0, introduced in Q2 2006, as well as r.a.d.tabstrip feature this rendering, to be followed soon by the other
navigation controls in the suite. Using list items and CSS instead of tables allows for a tremendous 70% reduction in the HTML output, providing for short loading time and
unmatched performance of the components.

Along with the major novelties, r.a.d.controls Q2 2006 also introduces key updates to a number of telerik components: after carefully analyzed
customer feedback, r.a.d.grid, r.a.d.editor, r.a.d.upload, r.a.d.window and r.a.d.dock come with lots of improvements.
The new version (2.0) of
r.a.d.upload introduces a completely customizable upload form user interface: the progress area of the control can now be used with standard file input
elements without the presence of r.a.d.upload on the page. The update also includes a new progress manager for monitoring any measurable server process,
like heavy calculations and database queries.

r.a.d.controls suite is now shipped with a consistent set of skins that allow you to easily build slick interfaces with the look-and-feel of Outlook, Windows XP,
Office, Visual Studio, etc. The skin of every control can be easily switched using a single property.
Web Resources
Also new is the support for Embedded Web Resources. All resources ?skinks, scripts, etc. are now embedded in the DLL, which makes the deployment process a
matter of drag-and-drop from the toolbox. Follow a telerik forum discussion on

telerik at TechEd 2006 - Summary and Photos
TechEd 2006 is over and we`re extremely happy to say that it turned out
to be a great success for both
us and the organizers. Microsoft had done a great job on organizing the biggest industry event ?this year it attracted more than 13,000 professionals.
telerik was one of the sponsors of the event, therefore the
conference attendees were able to meet us both at out booth in the expo hall and around the company-branded relaxation 'bean-bag?area. telerik`s booth was
among the most popular ones at the show, as TechEd 2006 hosted the premiere presentation of telerik`s new product lines: UI suite for WinForms development, a
Reporting tool, and telerik's new AJAX framework. The WPF-like UI capabilities of the telerik WinForms and the unique architecture of the reporting tool
triggered a lot of interest among the TechEd attendees. Both new products are still in development, but Internal Betas have been demoed at the booth and the official
releases are scheduled for later this year. Even if you`re missed us there, you can still be among the first to test the products, by joining the Public Beta programs. For
more information, click here (for WinForms) and here (for Reporting).
Yet it was another of telerik`s new products that attracted the greatest
interest: r.a.d.ajax - the new patent-pending Click-and-Go?technology implemented in the r.a.d.ajax framework dramatically simplifies the development
of AJAX-enabled applications. Everyone who stopped by our
booth to watch the demo was amazed that a traditional postback application can be AJAX-enabled in a matter of minutes when using r.a.d.ajax. It takes only a
couple of clicks and there is no need to modify the application's logic or structure. If you haven't seen the demo, please visit: http://www.telerik.com/public/presentation/ajax/ajax.html
To those more than
2000 people who stopped by telerik`s booth, we would like to say a big 'Thank you?for attending, for your valuable feedback and comments. It was great to meet
all of you in person.
